REDISCOVERING
YOUTH MINISTRY
Jamie Green:
The
challenges of Youth Ministry are greater than ever. Traditional
forms of youth ministry have given way to a style that is more fluid
and diverse. Come and address the unique challenges that exist
today and gain counsel and guidance on how to reach young people in
a way that is dynamic and effective.

REDISCOVERING
COVENANT: The Cambridge Platform
Dr. Steven A.
Peay
will lead participants into the “time-full-ness” of the Cambridge
Platform. The paradigm for Congregational Fellowship is perhaps
even more applicable today than it has been before. For those
interested in ways that church polity and practice come together,
this session will be a breath of fresh air

REDISCOVERING
GLOBAL MISSION
Dr. Manfred W.
Kohl
is unique in his ability to speak to the subject of global mission.
His experience as pastor, teacher, fund raiser and his extensive
travels around the world in support of theological education in the
majority world have given him a perspective like no other. As
churches, our focus is often on the need to act locally. Come to
this session, learn a global perspective, and see that the fields
are ripe for the harvest.

REDISCOVERING BIBLICAL SEXUAL MORALITY
In the moral
morass of the modern world, even followers of Christ are hard
pressed to know what the Bible says about human sexuality.
Dr. Barbara M. Kohl will lead participants through the
wonderfully freeing message of Scripture regarding what it means to
be human and how it plays out in intimate, interpersonal
relationships. This session will be especially meaningful to those
involved in youth ministries.

REDISCOVERING A
TRUE FAITH
In the spirit of
Dr. Francis Schaeffer, Richard Keyes, from L’Abri
Fellowship in Southborough, MA will focus on faith that is true and
authentic in contrast to faith that is relativistic and takes on the
shape and color of its surroundings. Based on his book,
Chameleon Christianity: Moving Beyond Safety and Conformity,
Dick will provide guidance on the way in which Christian faith
integrates all of life, including our minds, our hearts, our work,
our play, and our relationships.

REDISCOVERING RECONCILIATION
Dr. Arthur A.
Rouner, Jr.
– almost needs no introduction in the circle of the NACCC. He is
well-known for his place within the realm of Congregationalism.
Beyond his work as author and pastor, he has pioneered a ministry of
healing and reconciliation through the Pilgrim Center for
Reconciliation. In addition to his peace efforts in Africa, he has
been instrumental in working for reconciliation among indigenous
peoples in the United States. People from Pilgrim’s Presence in
Kenya will be with Dr. Rouner for this session.

REDISCOVERING
MINISTERIAL IDENTITY AND PURPOSE
Dr. David C.
Fisher
– in addition to preaching at our worship service on Sunday, June
22, 2008 and being our Bible lecturer this year, David will address
the issues that come to bear in the life of a pastor. The attrition
rate among ministers today is at record levels. This session will
stress the biblical, practical, and personal dynamics that enable
pastors to more than survive, but to thrive!

REDISCOVERING
CHURCH RENEWAL
People from the
historic Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims in Brooklyn, New York will
share the way in which renewal has come to the church through the
rediscovery of the place and purpose of covenant. Covenant relies
on the relational power of fellowship, a central tenet in the
Congregational Way. Come and see and hear the story from the people
who are in the process of living it out in the real world.

REDISCOVERING
VITAL WORSHIP
People from the
First Congregational Church in Hanson, MA have accomplished
something as remarkable as it is rare. They have added a
contemporary, Sunday morning worship service and have given it the
premier time slot. Much time, preparation, and prayer went into the
process of taking this step and much has been learned along the way
as the process has unfolded. Come and hear from the people who are
a part of this transformative move that is creating great Joy and
bearing fruit for the kingdom of God.

REDISCOVERING BIBLICAL VALUES FOR THE COMMON GOOD
Presented by the Washington Gladden Society
"History has
proven fear and greed to be powerful motivators. The Bible offers
alternative values upon which to organize a more equitable and just
economy. This workshop explores the tensions between today's
prevailing consumerism and biblical values that promote the common
good. The purpose of this workshop is to help clergy and laity to
articulate how biblical values address crucial unmet human needs and
social priorities."
The presenter,
Rev. Robert L. White, serves as a hospice chaplain in Florida.
Previously he pastored several congregations, and he has also worked
as a professional economist. |
